The Writing Center is open for tutoring in Thompson Library in the area behind the first floor information desk, opposite the elevators.

  What does the Writing Center do?

The Writing Center at CSTW offers free help with writing at any stage of the writing process for any member of the university community. During our tutorials, we can work with you on anything from research papers to lab reports, from dissertations to resumes, from proposals to application materials. We also maintain a resources page with writing handouts and weblinks.

Writing Center Policies

• Clients are limited to one tutorial per day at one Writing Center location per day. For example, if you have a tutorial at the 414 Smith Lab in the morning, you may not have a tutorial in the evening at Thompson Library.
• Clients may schedule ONE appointment at our Smith location each week. Clients with documented learning disabilities may have two appointments per week.
• Clients with too many appointments per week will have the overflow appointments canceled.
• If you need to cancel an appointment, please call 614-688-4291 or go online to AT LEAST ONE HOUR before your appointment. Canceling an appointment less than an hour before the appointment will count as a no-show. If you call to cancel more than an hour before your appointment, you may, if we have openings, reschedule an appointment for later in the week.
• Clients who miss an appointment without calling or visiting the scheduler system AT LEAST ONE HOUR in advance are considered no-shows and may not hold another appointment that week. Clients accumulating two or more no-shows will have appointments canceled and will not be allowed to schedule another appointment for the remainder of the semester.

What does the Writing Center NOT do?

The Writing Center does not proofread. We will discuss grammar issues with you and give you advice on how to proofread your own work, but we will not give you a proofread draft.

Students and affiliated OSU personnel can make appointments online or by calling 688-4291. Please note the Writing Centers at Thompson Library and Park-Stradley Hall will not be open during Exam Week.
