Research Study Explanation and Recruitment Letter
We request your participation in a study entitled "What Do Clients Expect When They Come to the CSTW Writing Center?" This study seeks to discover what expectations writing center clients bring with them to the center. If you have been a client at the Writing Center before, you have filled out a form that asks about your interests, as well as a tutorial evaluation form at the end of the session. These items provide important feedback, but the usefulness of this feedback is limited by a lack of context.
To gain this context and deepen our understanding of client needs, we ask that you allow us to record your tutorial and that you participate in a post-tutorial interview. We will ask about what kind of help you were seeking when you came to the Center and what you worked on during your tutorial. These interviews should take no more than 15 minutes.
Similarly, we will also interview tutors after their tutorials to understand better how tutors interpret client interests and why tutors choose to work on particular topics.
Participation In this study is voluntary. Writing Center clients do not have to participate in this study to have tutorials at the Center. All material is confidential and will not be released until all personally identifying information (name, classes, instructors, etc.) has been removed.
