Dissertation Research on Writing
Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing Dissertation Research Awards
CSTW is offering two awards of up to $2,500 to support research about the teaching of writing or the study of writing. Applicants must be graduate students at The Ohio State University with an approved dissertation prospectus.Deadline for applications: Thursday, December 1, 2008

Criteria:
- Submit a description of the project (not more than three single-spaced pages, plus bibliography) that includes a discussion of the research questions, significance of the research, methodology, and expected completion date.
- Include a one-page budget. Award funds may be used for supplies and services to support the collection of data and writing of the dissertation, as well as travel to conduct data gathering. Award funds may not be used to attend conferences and workshops.
- Submit your current CV.
- If human subjects are involved in the research, you must present evidence of IRB approval.
- Include a letter from your dissertation advisor that speaks to the quality and progress of your research.
The selected applicants are required to present a brown-bag discussion of their dissertation work during spring quarter 2009.
