Who's Listening; Who's Talking?: Creative Ways to Engage Students with Writing in a Auditory Medium
Students come to school with a variety of talents and abilities, some of which don't always get used in academics. Technologies like Audacity and wikis build on extracurricular skills while offering new ways for students to engage with writing and with other students. This workshop will highlight the best uses of auditory wikis, collaborative software that makes user-supplied sound files available to the public. Workshop participants will leave with their own audio files and lesson plans ready for classroom use.

Teaching to the Test?: Creative Ways to Implement a Holistic and Rhetorical Approach to Writing Instruction in a Test-Driven Curriculum
This workshop offers like a guided discussion and roundtable in which teachers discuss effective strategies that they have previously employed to integrate writing into a test-driven curriculum. We will then brainstorm new strategies and break into small groups to develop lesson plans based on what we've discussed. Finally, teachers will present their new lesson plans to the large group and discuss what they have developed. Each teacher will leave with a few concrete lesson plans that will be classroom ready.
